Time Lines Rhythm Patterns for Unit 5
Eighth Notes in 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4

Practice eighth notes and learn to subdivide the beat while improving your rhythm and sight reading skills. Select a link below to listen to and play along with rhythm patterns that focus on eighth notes combined with quarter notes, half notes, dotted half notes, and rests in 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4 time signatures from Unit 5 of Time Lines. Each pattern is four measures long and features different combinations of the Unit 5 exercises. Each webpage includes an audio example of the pattern as well as an image of the Time Lines Color Blocks to indicate where the notes and rests are. Remember to clap and count each pattern before playing it. That will help you develop your sense of rhythm and tempo, and it will ensure that you play the notes and rests accurately. For some reminders about clapping and counting longer notes, visit the Unit 4 Exercises page.
